How does an internet gesture become an immersive experience?
MIRA FESTIVAL, BARCELONA
Year 2024.
A research-led audiovisual piece developed for the dome at MIRA Festival, exploring memes as evolving languages of communication. Inspired by Richard Dawkins’ concept of cultural transmission, the project follows three stages: evolution, propagation and impact. I contributed to concept development, editing, frame-by-frame animation, mixed media processes and 3D modeling, translating theory into movement, scale and atmosphere.
Creative Research, Video Editing, Animation & 3D.
Elisava Master Project created with Alexandra Ventura Cornella, Maria Paula Ramirez Castaño, Andrea García.

EVOLUTION
A small sphere transforms and multiplies, representing how ideas evolve through repetition and variation.
We painted 154 frames by hand, experimenting with colour and texture, then scanned and animated them to bring the physical marks into motion.

PROPAGATION
We recreated an iconic internet meme as a mosaic on a children’s puzzle, photographing and animating it frame by frame.
Moving between physical and digital formats, this sequence explores how memes spread and remain recognisable as their form changes.

IMPACT
A 3D human figure covered in thousands of memes represents their influence on identity and communities. Rotating views lead into a walking loop, repeated radially to follow the dome’s shape and turn the figure into an immersive collective presence.

CREATIVE BOOK
The creative book brings together the research behind Memetic Model, exploring memes across politics, media, technology, industry and creativity. Combining contextual analysis, visual references and concept maps, it traces how we arrived at the idea of memes as internet gestures and established the foundation for the audiovisual piece.

FROM RESEARCH TO STORYBOARD
The book also documents how the research became a visual narrative. Early sketches, collaborative sessions and a storyboard connect evolution, propagation and impact to the techniques used in each sequence, showing the development from initial ideas to a piece designed for the dome.
